I am Toresa Wilson.
Before I stepped into the mental health field, little did I know, I was a "therapist" to many people in my life. Helping people has always come rather natural to me... possibly because I have all experienced my own struggles (parental divorce, sibling rivalry and picking a career path) that have enabled me to develop empathy and compassion for other's who are truly suffering.
I have been able to enter a place where I am able to see value in both painful and joyful life events. It is these experiences that have helped me grow into the person I am today.
It was not until after I stopped mobile therapy and started working in the emergency department that I really felt I should be a therapist. I missed the work I was doing. I had parents in the ED ask me, "Do you do therapy outside of the hospital?" so often that I should be rich today. It was then I realized that therapy was my calling.
My goal as the owner and therapist at Therapeutic Treasures, LLC is to provide a safe and compassionate place where counseling clients all over Maryland can get encouragement and support as they navigate through the challenges of life. No matter what you are going through there is hope.
I earned a Masters in Social Work from University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker- Clinical (License #20238). I have nine years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. I am trained in (Postpartum Support International and 2020 MOM) and have a special interest in maternal mental health; specifically working with women and men who are struggling with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I also have an interest in working with women who struggle with infertility.
Note: I work with all ages and specialize in depression and anxiety. In my work with clients I approach from a secular perspective (non-religious) while respecting all views, beliefs and identities. My clients receive a "custom fit" approach to treatment based on their strengths, personality and individual needs. I can often schedule new clients within one week.
